On stiff woven cotton or linen, tearaway is fine and the hat sits perfectly flat. The lantern is the bit that does it, it gives the gnome a purpose like hes actually going somewhere. I had a customer last december use this for a whole range of linen pillow covers she sold at a winter market and she said it was the one people kept coming back to pick up and look at.
