Add a layer of topping on slippery or lightly textured materials to keep the satin columns from sinking into the weave. Tight hooping on cursive is non-negotiable. Loose tension pulls the script joins apart mid-stitch and ya end up with gaps between the letters. Done right it looks genuinely elegant.
