Took me a while to get this one right. The wings on this butterfly arent your standard oval shapes - they're broken into bold filled sections with open curved channels running through them, almost like a stained-glass window if someone drew it freehand. All black, single thread, which is what makes it so flexible across different fabrics and projects.

And because its just one colour you can drop it onto pretty much any fabric and it'll read clearly. The tilted pose is what I really like - its not stiff or flat, looks like its actually mid-flight rather than pinned to a board. A customer asked me for this to use on her daughters school uniform name patch and said the contrast stitching came out sharp even at 3 inches.

Hoop with a tearaway stabiliser on wovens and use a cutaway on knit fabrics - the satin-style fills in the wing sections need that backing to lie flat. Skip the density adjustments in your software, its already set at 322 which works across the full size range. Stitch black thread throughout - dont swap colours mid-run. Comes in 9 sizes from around 3.5 inches top 7.5 size wide. Holler if you need something specific and we'll sort it out.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Stitching onto denim jacket backs or sleeves for a nature-meets-streetwear lookWorks on denim with black or white thread depending on fabric shade, stays sharp at all sizes.
  • Kids clothing patches, school bags, and name tape backingsThe smaller 3.5 inch size fits neatly on kids shirt pockets and school bag panels.
  • Tote bag center motif with the larger sizesAt 7.5 inches wide the design fills a tote bag front nicely without looking crowded.
  • Pillowcase corners or throw cushion fronts in high-contrast threadHigh contrast black on white or cream pillowcases makes the wing detail really pop.
  • Bookmarks and fabric gift tags using the smallest sizeThe smallest size finishes quickly and makes a clean narrow bookmark shape on stiff fabric.
  • Framed hoop art in a minimal black-on-linen styleSingle-color black on natural linen gives it a clean botanical print feel in a hoop frame.
  • Craft fair items like zipper pouches and fabric bookmarksFast to stitch at the smaller sizes, good for market prep when you need multiples quickly.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
