Not a portrait in the traditional sense. The face is barely suggested, just one heavily lashed eye visible through the chaos of hair and trailing botanical shapes, red lips sitting low in the composition with that smudged-ink look. The rest is all density, flowing black linework that builds the hair as a kind of abstract river pouring down and across the frame, picking up organic scrolls and curling leaf shapes as it moves.

Scattered around the edge are two starburst flower medallions, the solid eight-petal kind you see on batik prints. Theres also a rough red splatter mark on the upper cheek area, like ink dropped onto the paper during the drawing process. I didnt realise how much I liked that detail until I saw it stitched out at the 7-inch size last february. Gives it a hand-made energy thats hard to explain but you notice straight away.

Two colours, black does about 90 percent of the work and the small red element breaks it up. Seven sizes from 4 inches up to 10 inches. Go big if your hoop allows it, the linework opens up properly at 10 and the fine details become readable. Density is low at 270 average for art this intricate, so the needle path stays efficient and stitch-out time is reasonable. On light woven fabric the fine lines read clean. On dark fabric the lines go ghostlike in a way that also looks intentional, a customer picked the 8-inch specifically for a dark navy jacket back panel and said the effect landed exactly right.

Stitch on tote bags, denim jackets, stretched canvas for framing and on the front panel of plain shirts. Use a stable woven backing behind any fabric with drape. Skip knits and jersey, the linework density needs a firm base to register cleanly. Message me if your test stitch pulls or distorts, its usually a tension fix and takes 2 minutes to sort.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
