This baby giraffe is truly pleased to see you. Its neck tilts at a curious angle, those big round eyes catching orange and brown light, and theres a short grass patch at the feet like it just wandered in from the savanna. The smile is huge. Wide ears flare out sideways and the cartoon giraffe standing pose with that tiny wobble in the legs is what makes it work.

Nine colours and most of them sit in warm earth tones, tans, dark browns, a hint of cream on the belly. The darker brown spot patches on the body have irregular shapes, each digitised separately so they read as individual satin fills rather than one big flat blob. Green grass tufts at the base are a little cluster of short straight stitches. Simple but they ground the young giraffe figure and stop it floating.

I made this one with nursery decorators in mind, specifically the kind of safari-themed room where a bunch of animals go up on the wall as a set. Reach me if youre after a matching set, Ive got lions, hippos and zebras too. A customer sent photos last february of a full safari wall hoop collection she stitched for her twins room and this adorable baby giraffe was the centrepiece.

Drop a medium cutaway under on cotton or fleece. Body fill density on the biggest size goes to around 42k stitches so ya want a stable base. Pop the 7.5-inch in a 10-inch frame for wall art or Stitch a 4-in on cream cotton bibs for a newborn. Skip patterned fabric because the tan body blends into anything busy. Best results on white or pale-grey sage grounds. Send me message if the file doesnt load right on your machine.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
