So the eagle here isnt a cartoon bird or a clip-art silhouette. Its a proper portrait. The head sits in three-quarter profile facing right, beak slightly open like its about to say something. The crown of the head is a solid block of deep royal blue packed with white five-point stars in a tight grid pattern, same layout as the flag canton. Below that the neck feathers fan out and each feather is individually filled: alternating red and white satin strips with a few grey shadow feathers mixed in to give depth and stop it looking flat. The beak is a warm golden yellow with a darker orange base, and the eye is a tight amber circle with a bold pupil that gives the whole thing real intensity.

14 colours in my usual software and the density hits 1164 stitches per square inch on the largest size, so this is genuinely a high-stitch-count piece. Four sizes from 5 by 4.08 inches up to 7.96 by 6.52 inches, stitch range 34k to 60k. Use a firm medium-to-heavy cutaway stabiliser and keep hoop tension steady. The feather fills use a directional angle change between each stripe so they catch light differently, which is what makes it look woven rather than printed. Skip light tearaway on this one, the stitch density will pull it apart mid-run.

A customer picked up the 7-inch version last fourth of July for a veterans group jacket project and sent me a pic of six of them stitched in a row across the back panel. Every single one came out clean, which tells you the file is solid even at volume. Pop it on navy, white, tan or olive denim and the colour palette works without fighting the background.

Drop a line if the red stripe registration wanders on your machine and Ill sort the colour run order.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • 4th of July polo shirt chest leftUse the 5-inch on a navy polo shirt left chest and the blue crown blends right into the fabric for a sharp two-tone effect
  • Patriotic baseball cap front panelThe smallest size at 5 inches fits the front panel of a structured baseball cap without crowding the crown seams
  • Veteran appreciation jacket backStitch the largest size on the back of a denim or canvas jacket as a full centrepiece for a veteran tribute piece
  • Memorial Day tote bag centrepiecePut the 6-inch on a kraft shopper bag and the red and white feathers read clean against the unbleached background
  • Military-themed cushion coverCentre the 7-inch on a navy or white cushion cover for a patriotic living room accent that works year-round not just on holidays
  • Mens denim shirt yoke embroideryThe medium size on a chambray shirt yoke sits just across the shoulders for a Western-patriotic crossover look
  • Patriotic wall hanging on canvasStitch onto a piece of cotton canvas stretched over a small frame, it reads like a painted portrait once matted and hung
  • Firefighter or first responder gear bagUse the 6-inch on a heavy canvas gear bag for a fire station or first responder crew gift that has real weight to it

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
