The american girl patriotic design shows a woman in profile, you only see her from the side. Her hair is all up in a messy bun and its done in this loose, expressive black thread style, lots of individual strand lines rather than a solid filled shape. The sunglasses are the detail that catches people first, one lens has the star field and the other goes full red-and-white stripes. Then theres the flower tucked into the bun, red petals with a little blue star center.

Below all of that, AMERICAN comes across in bold block caps in blue and Girl comes underneath in flowing red cursive. Its a lot going on but it holds together well because the black hair silhouette anchors the whole thing. People have been buying it steadily since I listed it last spring, and I get messages saying it came out better than expected on hoodies. Stick mid-weight cutaway behind any knit or fleece, the hair detail has a lot of directional fill changes that need that extra support. Eight color changes, six sizes from 5 to 10 inches.

Stitch on medium-weight cotton or a stable poly-cotton blend for the cleanest satin finish on the text. Pop it on a 6-inch hoop at the 5-inch size for good results. The star detail on the sunglasses lens is small but it stitches up with a nice density at the larger sizes. Skip very busy or patterned fabrics for this one, the hair silhouette needs a plain background to read properly.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • 4th of July t-shirts and sweatshirts for womenThe 5-6 inch range sits perfectly on the chest area of most adult women's tees.
  • Patriotic hoodies for summer festivals and cookoutsOn hoodies the 7-8 inch version fills the front pouch area or the upper back nicely.
  • Custom tote bags for July 4th marketsOn canvas tote bags the full composition reads well from arm's length.
  • Patriotic baseball caps at larger blank sizesAt 5 inches it fits on a wide-brim hat panel better than on a standard cap front.
  • Girl power and American pride combined giftsThe combination of bold text and the portrait silhouette makes it a complete design on its own.
  • Memorial Day and Veterans Day apparel for womenDark navy or black tees bring out the white star details on the sunglasses really well.
  • Custom jackets with a big statement back or chest pieceOn a denim or bomber jacket the loose hair texture gives it an almost hand-drawn feel.
  • Red, white and blue themed bachelorette party shirtsWhite tees with red or blue thread accessories make an easy coordinated set for groups.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
