Red chunky flowing script for american at the top, a bit retro, a bit informal, like the font came off a diner sign from the 70s. Six sizes, 3 inches up to 8 inches. Below the script, mama stacks four rows in a tall gothic style: dark navy with white stars packed inside the solid version, outline only in the layers above and below. The whole thing reads tall and narrow, which is why it works so well centred on a shirt front without spreading edge to edge.
Only two colours so the stops are quick. There isnt much going on mechanically, this one runs fast even at the largest size. I made the outline rows give it layered depth without extra colour changes. Its a simple build but it looks like more work than it is, people always assume theres more threads involved when they see it in person. Back it with tearaway for woven fabrics like cotton canvas, it'll release cleanly after the run. Hoop snug on knits to avoid the script letterforms shifting mid-stitch. Skip black fabric, the navy and the red both disappear on dark grounds.
Someone emailed me last week asking if this worked with a Bernina and yes, any home machine handles it fine at all six sizes. Dont overthink the stabiliser choice for this one.
People use it on mama t-shirts for 4th of July family gatherings, matching mom-and-kids parade outfits, patriotic baseball caps for summer events, 4th of July tote bags for beach or market days, and sweatshirts for memorial day or labour day weekends too.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Mama t-shirts for 4th of July family gatheringsThe tall narrow layout centres on a shirt front at 5 to 7 inches height without spreading too wide
- Matching mom-and-kids parade outfitsPairs well with the American Mini design if youre doing a mama-and-mini matching set
- Patriotic baseball caps for summer eventsAt 3 to 4 inches it fits a cap front panel, the text stays readable at that size
- 4th of July tote bags for beach or market daysWorks on a tote centred or slightly above centre for a balanced look
- Sweatshirts for memorial day or labour day weekends tooThe red-and-navy works for any patriotic holiday, not just July 4th

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
