Right so this one is the simple oblong autumn leaf, not the maple or the oak, more like the kind you find from elm or birch trees when theyre turning in october. Elongated oval shape with a crinkled toothed edge all the way around, laid flat at a slight horizontal angle. The whole body carries a warm amber orange tatami fill, and a centre spine runs stem to tip with parallel veins branching off like ribs on either side.

Its probably the most densely stitched of the leaf designs at 742 stitches per square inch. Largest size is 3.45 by 6 inches and that gets up to just over 15,000 stitches, so this is a heavier stitch out than it looks. Ive digitised the fill direction to shift slightly as it crosses the midrib so the two halves of the leaf catch light at different angles. The vein stitching uses a fractionally darker thread than the tatami body, not a strong contrast, more like a warm brown-orange, so the ribs are visible but not harsh.

I get messages from a customer who does seasonal home decor, she texts me when she wants to reorder the file link and always orders the full size for cushion panels. Last october she did a matching set of 4 cushions in terracotta cotton and the amber leaf on that earthy background was genuinely one of the nicest things Ive seen done with this design.

Needs a medium to heavy cutaway stabiliser given the 742 density. Woven cotton, canvas, felt and mid-weight linen all work. Skip anything delicate or lightly woven, the stitch count will pull light fabric out of shape even with stabiliser.

Use a sharp needle, size 75/11 or 80/12, for clean penetration through the dense fill without skipped stitches. Stitch at medium speed and keep tension slightly looser than default on the body fill sections. Text me through the order page if youre getting looping on the underside, its usually a bobbin tension thing and easy to fix.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
