Cottagecore mushroom designs have been really popular for the past couple years and I digitised this one back in november after a customer wrote me asking if I had an autumn mushroom with actual gill detail underneath the cap, not just a solid shape. So I went back in and built it properly, 9 colours, 15818 stitches, 3.5 inches wide by 3.35 tall, density at 209. The gills are satin-stitched in directional fills that fan outward from the stem, which is what gives it the dimensional look rather than a flat cartoon.

the digitising software lets me do that kind of underlay layering and it shows here. The cap has its own underlay pass before the rust fill goes down, so the colour stays rich even on darker fabric. Use no-show mesh on knit fabrics and a firm tearaway on woven cotton or linen. Topping helps if youre hooping on any fluffy fabric like fleece or felt, push it on the mushroom cap especially, the white spots can get buried if theres alot of pile.

I've run this on a navy cotton sweatshirt and an olive green linen tote and it looked great on both. Pick thread colours that shift warm if you want the palette to really pop, avoid cool-toned threads for the rust cap, they knock the autumn warmth out of it. Email me if you need the stitch file adjusted for a specialty hoop size and Ill see what I can do about resizing within the format limits.

Hoop tight, run at 700 spm max for the dense cap area, and press with a pressing cloth on the reverse after you finish, it settles the stitches nicely on linen especially. Email me through the shop contact if you want a smaller mushroom variant and Ill prep the file.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Left chest sweatshirt patchNavy cotton sweatshirt left chest where the rust cap and cream gills read warm against the dark ground.
  • Linen tote bag front centerCottagecore linen tote bag for a market or everyday carry, the palette suits natural fabric without colour matching.
  • Autumn pillow cover featureAutumn cushion cover front panel in olive or ochre, the plump composition reads as a proper centrepiece.
  • Cottagecore denim jacket backDenim jacket back panel sized to 3.5 in. The forest floor aesthetic suits denim with a casual outdoor quality.
  • Child's backpack iron-on patchCotton hand towel centre panel for a kitchen that leans nature-themed rather than seasonal.
  • Canvas wall art hoop frameCanvas backpack panel for a child who asked for a forest creature design rather than a standard cartoon character.
  • Hand towel decorative centerHoop art on 6-inch natural linen in a wooden frame, the dimensional gill detail really shows when properly lit.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
