A pumpkin drawn in that botanical line art style where the focus is on the contour lines rather than a flat fill. Each segment of the pumpkin has its own satin column outlining it, the stem curls up naturally and theres a leaf or two on a vine coming off one side. Two colours, so you get the main pumpkin body in one thread and the detail lines and stem in a second. Its more of an autumn harvest illustration than a halloween piece, which means it works from September through late November without looking out of place.

I mapped the botanical outline work in my software and the column widths needed careful attention. The segment satin columns run parallel which means underlay alignment matters, if the underlay stitches are misaligned the columns shift and the segments lose their clean edge definition. At 459 density its a medium weight file. Hoop with a medium cutaway stabiliser, linen and cotton twill are the best fabric choices for this style. At 5.7 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall you get 19,664 stitches across 2 colours. A colour change comes after the body fill so its a quick swap, most customers run through a piece in under 30 minutes.

I get a decent number of orders for this one in October from people making autumn home decor rather than halloween stuff. One customer wrote to me in late September saying she wanted a pumpkin for kitchen towels that wouldnt date in the run-up to halloween, and this is exactly what I pointed her towards. The botanical style ages well on linen and doesnt scream october the way a carved face pumpkin would.

Try rust and black thread for a rich autumn palette, or go with a caramel and sage combination if you want something lighter and more modern on your kitchen linen. Back with tearaway on lighter fabrics if youre worried about stiffness. Skip synthetic fabrics, the satin column lines on the segments look considerably better on natural fibre weaves like linen, cotton canvas or chambray.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Autumn kitchen tea towels and dish clothsStitch the 5.7 inch version on a natural linen tea towel in rust thread for a kitchen piece that lasts through the whole autumn season.
  • Fall season tote bags and market carriersOn a canvas tote at 4 inches this botanical pumpkin reads as a premium autumn bag rather than a costume accessory.
  • Thanksgiving table runners and placematsCentre on a table runner at the 5 inch size, repeating the motif at even spacing across a length of cream linen.
  • Seasonal throw pillow covers for autumn decorCream or oatmeal linen pillow covers with a rust thread stitch make seasonal autumn swaps that match most home colour palettes.
  • Craft fair fall home decor items and seasonal stockLow thread colour count means you can run volume quickly for craft fair autumn stock without colour change slowdowns.
  • Hostess gifts and personalised autumn linenOn a tea towel with a personalised name added in matching thread, this is a proper autumn hostess gift set.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
