This is one I made for a customer who wanted a fall border design for a set of linen dish towels, and it turned out to be the most reused template in my autumn lineup. The layout is slim and wide, 4.49 inches across and 1.64 tall, thats exactly the proportion you need for a towel border, a bag top strip, or a yoke detail. Ten thousand, two hundred and eighty-six stitches across six colours, all digitised in the software I use at a fairly dense 217.

At density 217 the fill is rich and the colours blend into each other the way good harvest-palette designs should. Pair soft cutaway behind woven tablecloths and display items, the design wont be under mechanical stress the way a bag or garment would, and tearaway gives a cleaner backing finish on pieces you gift or hang. On cotton aprons or tote bags, go with a cutaway. The vine sections use a satin directional fill I ran at an angle to mimic actual leaf veining, it adds a nice texture without extra colour changes. Hoop the fabric on grain to keep the long horizontal from skewing. Stitch a test strip on scrap fabric first to check your density settings.

I get messages every september from people who've been using this for years on apron hems, on fall tote bags, across the waistband of harvest-theme table runners, and on the top edge of quilted place mats. It runs from early september right through november without looking too specifically halloween, which customers find useful when they want something seasonal but a bit more versatile. Pair it with a simple text design for a complete autumn kitchen set. Wash items inside-out on a gentle cycle so the satin vine columns dont catch on other laundry in the drum.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kitchen towel bottom hem borderKitchen towel hem border for a harvest-season gift set, the slim strip sits right along the bottom edge without competing with the main body of the towel.
  • Autumn apron waist panel stripLinen napkin border for a thanksgiving table, the muted olive and sienna tones coordinate with autumn tableware without looking halloween-specific.
  • Fall tote bag top yoke designCanvas apron waist panel running the full width of the bib, tearaway holds well on cotton drill at the 217 density.
  • Harvest table runner end panelTable runner end panel, stitch one repeat at each short end of a 60-inch linen runner for a finished harvest-table look.
  • Quilted place mat front stripFall tote bag top strip leaving the main panel free for a name or a second design, the narrow height is what makes this work.
  • Fall season canvas bag graphicQuilted placemat front strip, use a topping layer on any patterned or textured quilted surface to keep pumpkin fills readable.
  • Pumpkin patch wall hanging bannerAutumn market stall display piece, framed on linen in a 6x4 inch frame, the wide horizontal fills it exactly and works as shop signage.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
