My friend has a small hobby farm and she texted me a photo of this stitched on a white linen apron she made and it was exactly right. Just a baby calf looking up at you with those big cartoon eyes, half hidden in a scruffy patch of grass. Single black thread, no fill at all, so its fast to stitch and works on any light coloured fabric without complicated thread planning.
One colour, one stop. Run a layer of medium tearaway behind the fabric before hooping and youre set. Use a fresh needle before you start, the muzzle and eye details need a sharp point to come out clean. The trim count runs high because each grass blade gets its own path, around 128 at the smallest baseline reaching 152 at the largest, but thats also what gives it that hand drawn illustration quality rather than a computer graphic look. Stitch the grass field first, then the face, or your machine will be jumping back into the detailed areas. Text me anytime something doesnt look right.
Nine sizes from 3.5 inches wide 7.5 ceiling, roughly square proportions. The 5-inch version is where the grass detail really starts to seperate and read properly. Cheerful design, not just for farm projects. At 4682 stitches on the 3-in size up to 8186 on the 7.5-in size, runs clean on cream cotton, linen, or fleece.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
