Theres something about a baby elephant design that people just cant resist ordering. The trunk curls up slightly, the ears are oversized in that classic cartoon way, and the whole thing has this round chunky shape that reads super soft even before you stitch it. I digitised this one with a density of 857 so the grey-blue satin sections come out smooth without puckering on medium-weight nursery cotton or fleece.

Alot of customers order this for newborn gift items and I totally get why. The file runs across 5 sizes from 3.51 inches across to 7.51 inches, and the stitch counts go from 13,325 up to 30,709 at the largest. Thats a wide range which means you can fit it on a burp cloth or scale it up for a cot blanket without losing the shape. Use a cutaway stabiliser underneath and a tear-away topping if your fabric is at all textured. Stitch it slowly through the ear sections, the pale pink satin fill is narrow and pushes easily if your tension is off.

The colour sequence runs through 8 shades: dusty grey-blue for the body, pale pink for inner ear detail, cream on the belly, warm tan accents around the legs, and a darker brown for the eye outline. One customer last month ordered it as baby shower gift set and stitched three different sizes in a row on a muslin set. She said the directional satin on the trunk was the bit that got the most comments. Pick the 3.51-inch for hoop-friendly bibs, skip anything thinner than a medium tear-away on muslin or it bunches under the belly section. Holler if anything looks off in the files and I'll sort it straight away.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Nursery wall art hooped on linenNursery wall hoop on natural linen at 7.5 inches: the grey-blue body tone sits as a neutral against almost every nursery wall colour without needing to match exactly
  • Baby shower gift set on muslin burp clothsMuslin burp cloth set with three different sizes side by side, a coordinated baby shower gift that looks like it was bought from a specialist shop
  • Newborn bodysuit chest pocket panelNewborn onesie chest at 3.51 inches on white cotton interlock: cutaway underneath holds the satin fill flat through repeated washing without the fabric puckering
  • Cot blanket corner decorationBib front at the 3.51-inch size centred above the neckline where the round compact elephant shape sits naturally without running into the bib edge binding
  • Baby gym mat applique accentBaby gym mat applique panel on foam-backed fabric at 4 inches: extra-dense cutaway handles the foam base and the elephant figure survives the tummy time abuse
  • Personalised baby bib centre panelQuilt corner panel at 7.5 inches where the grey-blue palette coordinates with neutral safari-themed quilt fabrics without needing an exact colour match

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
