Played with a girl-leaning elephant concept for nursery projects and this one landed exactly where I wanted it. Shes seated with her legs out in front, trunk curved down and forward holding a little flower at the tip. The flower has got four petals in a mix of red, blue and a bit of yellow with a yellow centre, its small enough to read as a delicate detail and not take over the whole design. On top of her head theres a tiny sprout of dark hair sticking straight up which is the kind of thing that sounds minor but it adds alot of personality.

The body fill is a soft blue-grey tatami with subtle contour shading along the belly and legs. What makes this one different from the other elephant designs is the ears, theyre big and wide, rendered in pink satin with white polka dot accent fills scattered across the surface. The blush marks are deep rose satin circles, one on each cheek, slightly overlapping the face outline so they look like actual blush and not flat spots. Eye has lash detail, upper lid has a small stroke that gives her a feminine expression without being overdone.

8 colours, density 893 stitches per square inch. Five sizes from 2.92 by 3.01 inches at 14,528 stitches up to 6.81 by 7.01 inches at 42,632 stitches. One customer ordered this for a baby girl quilt, she stitched 4 of em in a two-by-2 grid layout with a blush sashing between each block, said it looked like something from a boutique baby brand.

Works on blush pink, white, pale lavender, soft mint or cream fabric. Skip anything too saturated, the polka dots on the ears need a quiet background to read. Baby cotton, quilting weight, fleece and interlock jersey all stitch nicely. Use a medium cutaway for jersey, tear-away for wovens, and a thin water-soluble topping if youre working on velour or minky.

Digitised in my software with a clean colour order so those ear dots land after the base fill without registration issues. Hoop tight and dont skip the topping on any fluffy fabric or the tiny dot fills will sink and disappear.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
