This one took me awhile to get right. The hat was the tricky part, all those polka dots had to read clearly even at the smallest size, and the pink satin on the brim needed the right density so it didnt pull or pucker on stretchy baby fabrics. I used my main software for the digitising with a lot of back-and-forth on the underlay before it sat properly.

Its a chubby little grey elephant, sitting up cute, with a hot pink bucket hat covered in white dots and a matching bow. Hearts float around it, stitched in the same blush and hot pink. Six colors altogether: grey for the body, two shades of pink for the hat and cheeks, black for the eyes and outlines. The stitch density is set at 714, which gives the filled areas a smooth finish without being too stiff for onesie fabrics or a light cutaway stabiliser underneath.

Hoop a firm cutaway stabiliser for knits or anything with stretch. On wovens like a quilt block or canvas bag, a medium cutaway works fine. Run the 3.51 x 3.10 inch version on a front pocket or sleeve patch. At full size, 7.51 x 6.65 with 35,670 stitches, you'll want a solid topping on fluffy towelling to keep those dot details sharp.

I had a customer last spring who ordered this for a full baby shower set, onesies plus a towel and a little tote bag, all in the same pink colorway. She said the hearts were her favourite part because they gave her room to do a scattered placement rather than one centred hoop. Thats the kind of flexibility built into this design.

Stitch it. Add to a nursery pillow or a newborn gift set and youre done.

  • Nursery decor pillows and hooped wall artFrame the largest 7.51 inch size in an embroidery hoop for a ready-made nursery wall decoration
  • Baby shower gift bags and tote bagsPlace the 3.51 inch version on a small cotton tote for a baby shower gift that looks hand-made but is consistent every time
  • Children's room quilt blocksUse as a central block in a patchwork baby quilt, hooped on cotton fabric before assembly
  • Infant hooded towels and washclothsRun the medium size on a hooded infant towel with topping film over the terry loops to keep detail crisp
  • Toddler t-shirts and sweatshirtsCenter on a toddler sweatshirt chest in the 5 to 6 inch range for a gift that grows with the child a bit longer

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
