Two little baby footprints sit side by side, heels at the bottom, tiny toe impressions at the top. Above them a gentle curved script reads My 1st Christmas, and over to one side theres a small holly sprig with a pair of red berries tucked in. Pale pink for the footprints, holly green for the leaves, cherry red for the berries. Thats it. Three colours, nothing complicated, but the combination reads instantly as a baby keepsake.
5 file sizes ship with the download, 9 hoops, the small one 3.5 inch, biggest 7.5. Stitch counts go from about 11,700 to just over 31,600 depending which size you run. The bigger sizes are best for blankets and pillows where you want the detail to show, the smaller ones work well on bibs, onesies, and stocking cuffs.
A customer wrote to me in november asking for something she could stitch onto a keepsake blanket before her sisters baby arrived. She wanted to do it herself on her home machine and wasnt confident with complex designs. Drop in and tell me if theres anything I can help with, she said. This is the one I pointed her toward, simple enough for a first or second christmas project but looks like you spent real time on it.
Use the largest size on a soft fleece or minky blanket and frame it centre front. Stitch the 5 inch hoop fits clean on a cream cotton baby blanket and personalise the cuff with the babys name using a plain alphabet file alongside. Add it to a cream cotton onesie for a first Christmas photoshoot outfit. Pale backgrounds let the pink footprints breathe, darker navys make the holly pop instead.
Keep your stabiliser firm under soft blanket fabric so the toe impressions stitch clean. The holly leaf outline is the fiddliest part so dont skimp on tension there. Best run at a steady medium speed through the script arc to avoid any pull on the lettering.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
