This penguin is mid-belly-flop into the water, wings spread out, droplets going in every direction. The expression on its face is pure chaos and delight, that wide-eyed look right as it hits the surface. Black back and head, white chest patch and face, orange beak and stubby feet, and a whole lot of bright aqua-blue splash water with white foam highlights around the base. Twenty-three colours in this build, which sounds like alot but every shade is on the water droplets and foam gradients, thats where the motion effect comes from.
Nine sizes from 3.45 by 3.50 inches to 7.38 by 7.50 inches, nearly square at every size, which is useful for centred placement. Stitch counts move from 41,236 at the smallest to 96,142 on the largest. Density sits at 1737, which is on the heavier side, so the aqua splash sections look genuinely solid and saturated. my usual software handled the water splash underlay separately from the penguin body so the two dont fight each other at the join lines.
Hoop with a firm cutaway backer on all baby items, no tearaway near anything that goes on skin. The higher stitch count on the water section needs solid backing to stay flat, especially on knit onesies and stretchy baby fabric. Use no-show mesh under anything thats going against newborn skin. A customer who makes personalised baby shower gift sets has been ordering this design since last winter for her penguin-themed bundles, she pairs it with a name frame design on bibs and says customers recognise it from across the table at her stalls.
