The head is almost as big as the body and thats entirely the point. This baby turtle is drawn in that chibi style where the proportions are all pushed toward maximum cuteness. Giant round eyes with white highlight spots and little curved lashes, a wide open grin showing a tiny red tongue, and two round red cheek patches that make it look permanently thrilled about everything. The shell domes up behind the head in a proper tessellated hexagonal pattern, each panel stitched in mustard gold with darker olive green grooves between em. Those stumpy little arms and the legs are several shades of forest green layered with directional stitching so the surface has actual texture.

Twelve colours and the density is high, 68k stitches on the largest 7.51-inch size. The shell panels alone have alot of stitch work because each hexagon gets its own fill pass with underlay to keep the edges sharp. The red ear patches are a small detail but they add that pop of warmth against all the green. I have been digitising turtle designs for years and getting the shell geometry right in my main software takes proper time. These shell lines come out clean at every size.

I get orders from ocean nursery builders all the time but one customer last february went all-in, a marine biology teacher who wanted five pieces for her classroom reading corner. She had em stitched on cream canvas cushion covers in a half-circle arrangement. Looked amazing. Dm me if you want the design checked for compatibility with your specific machine model before downloading.

Use a firm cutaway stabiliser for all fabric types on this one. The density is 1,754 at medium sizes and the shell fill sections put real pressure on the backing. Stitch on white, cream or pale mint cotton for cleanest colour separation. The forest green body and mustard shell need a light ground. Skip fleece or velvet on the smaller sizes, the texture eats the detail. Hoop firm and go a touch slower through the shell pentagon fills.

Best on nursery items. Right at home on ocean nursery walls.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Ocean nursery wall hoopsHoop the 7.5-inch in a large round frame and hang it above a cot in an ocean or under-the-sea nursery theme.
  • Baby shower gift totes and pouchesStitch on a white cotton drawstring bag as a baby shower gift wrap for a turtle or sea animal themed party.
  • Newborn onesies and cotton bibsPop the smallest size on a cream onesie at chest height and back it with cutaway for the stretch fabric.
  • Kids tee shirts with beach or ocean themesEmbroider the 5-inch on a white short-sleeved tee for a beach birthday or aquarium trip. Kids go mad for it.
  • Classroom reading corner cushion coversUse on cream canvas cushion covers for a kids reading corner and arrange five or six different ocean creatures in a group.
  • Sea creature themed birthday party merchPair the 4-in on plain white tees for a sea turtle themed birthday and add the childs name beneath in satin lettering.
  • Cotton swaddle muslin embroideryEmbroider a small corner version on a white muslin swaddle, the density holds well on the flat woven weave.
  • Small canvas zipper pouches for baby accessoriesUse on a white cotton zippered pouch for storing dummies, nail clippers and small baby bits. The design makes it obvious.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
