Heres the back-to-school gnome and hes all kitted out for the first day. A tall pointy navy hat covered in tiny white polka dots flops to one side, its hanging right over his face. Big fluffy cream beard takes up his belly. Two stubby arms wrap around a rainbow bundle of seven coloured pencils sticking up like a bouquet. A small red apple sits at his feet, thats the cute little detail you almost miss. Brown school shoes stick out from under the beard.

Seven threads carrying the colour weight. Navy with white dots gives the hat that proper school-supply pattern feel. Cream and white build the beard layers. Those rainbow pencils use red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple stacked tight together. Brown finishes the shoes and a deeper red anchors the apple, its all kid-friendly colour. Honestly its alot of colour changes for one piece, but the result is a charm bomb. Density runs heavier because of all those tiny dot fills on the hat aswell.

I drew this for teacher gifts mostly, classroom door wreaths, school librarian merch. People keep ordering it nonstop in late july and august, alot of the early-bird teacher mums planning their classroom decor. Last september one customer ordered the 7-inch panel for a kindergarten teacher gift apron and she sent photos. The polka dot hat came through clean on a charcoal apron, real classroom-ready. People have been buying it for school librarian aprons aswell.

Stitch on plain solid fabric for cleanest results. Pop on cream linen, oat canvas, sage cotton, dusty pink or charcoal grey. The dotty hat and rainbow pencils sing on any of those grounds. Skip patterned fabric here because the gnome silhouette gets noisy with anything else going on. Skip dark navy aswell, the hat gets swallowed and those white dots disappear into the ground entirely.

Stitch counts run heavy at about 54k on the 7.5 wide cap and 19k on the petite 3.5 in. Seven colour changes plus the hat polka dots take real time, plan a quiet hooping session not a rushed one. Use a heavy cutaway stabiliser, no tearaway here. If youre stitchin on knits like a teacher tee, add a polymesh topping so those tiny dots dont sink. Slow your machine speed at the colour changes on the pencil bundle, those tight butt joints need clean transitions. Send a chat message if a satin column shreds at higher speeds.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
