Last summer a customer messaged me wanting something fun and summery for a beach tote she was making as a gift. Thats how this one came about, and its been a steady seller ever since.
The word 'beach' sits on top in those big rounded chunky letters filled with hot pink satin stitch, and 'babe' underneath in the same blocky rounded style but switched out to bright orange so theyre clearly two separate words at a glance. A tiny sun with short spiked rays tucks above the top-right, a green palm tree leans into the bottom-left corner, and a small yellow starfish sits bottom-right like it dropped there on purpose. Two black wavy lines at the base read as ocean water without overdoing it. A pair of lil black seagull silhouettes fly near the top. Six colours total, typography design, classic summer palette.
Hoop a firm cutaway on knit or terry fabrics and pop a water-soluble topping over any textured surface to keep the satin fills sitting flat. Use a moderate machine speed on the letter fills or the density will cause thread buildup at the corners. Skip the underlay pass and the letters will look sunken in the final stitch-out. Largest size is 4.65 inches wide at 13,471 stitches. Smallest is 2 inches at 5,263 stitches, which fits neatly on a chest pocket.
