The blooming book sits in landscape orientation, which isnt how most of these designs are built, and that horizontal spread is what makes it work differently on fabric. Two tall crocus-style flowers rise from the centre spine, hot pink and burnt orange with black linework veining through the petals. Around the base a bunch of smaller wildflowers fan left and right along the page edges, leaf sprigs trailing down over the ruled lines of the open pages.

Just 3 colours total, pink, orange and black, which honestly is exactly the right call here. Adding more would muddy the botanical feel. The black outline stitching handles everything structural, the satin-column border on the book gives it weight, and the two accent colours land only on the flowers. Clean, ordered, no filler.

A book club host in the midwest ordered this last spring for a lil decor project, nine sizes she said, hooped on linen and framed above her reading chair. She sent photos and ya could see the crocus stems reading really clearly against the cream linen ground. Four sizes available from 7 inch up to 10 inch wide, so its properly sized for statement wall pieces or the back panels of tote bags. Around 24k stitches at the smallest, 35k at the largest.

Drop a tearaway stabiliser under woven cotton or linen for the cleanest result. The landscape format means you need a wider hoop, at minimum a 5x7 for the smallest size. Avoid jersey here, the long horizontal petal fills dont like stretch. Pick a pale ground, cream, white or oatmeal, the pink and orange are warm tones that want a light background to read properly.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Framed wall art on linen for a reading roomHoop the 10-inch wide version on cream linen, frame in a natural wood 12-inch hoop and hang it above a reading chair for a proper botanical statement.
  • Book club tote bag back panelStitch the 9-inch on a canvas tote back panel and use it as the book club monthly meetup bag, wide enough to carry a hardback easily.
  • Librarian or bookshop staff toteEmbroider the 7-inch on a cotton tote for a bookshop team member, the restrained 3-colour palette looks suprisingly professional on a plain bag.
  • Spring-theme cushion cover for a home officeUse the 8-inch on an oatmeal linen accent pillow for a home office sofa, the spring colours work year-round and dont look seasonal.
  • Botanical-style quilt block centre panelCentre the 7-inch as the focal block in a botanical patchwork quilt, the landscape shape sits differently to square blocks and gives the layout interest.
  • Gift bag for a book-loving friendStitch on a canvas gift bag and fill it with paperbacks for a reader friend, the blooming book theme lands perfectly without being too obvious.
  • Home decor hoop for a bedroom bookshelf wallMount the finished 9-inch piece in a deep shadowbox frame with a pale sage mat and hang it on a bedroom wall beside the bookshelf.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
