This dragon is gonna look kinda dramatic on pretty much anything dark. Wings fully open, long neck stretched up, tail sweeping down. The whole thing runs 5 colours: warm violet-purple on the inner wing membranes, bright electric blue across the body scales, sky blue highlights, white accents, and a really deep R0 G0 B69 navy handling the outline and shadow fills. Its alot of layers and the colour transitions are what make it work.

5 sizes, all in the range of 3.51 to 7.51 inches wide and 3.41 to 7.29 inches tall. Stitch counts are starting tiny and climbing to 58,252 at the largest. And theres 4 colour changes in the file, so ya want to stay organised with your bobbin thread when running the bigger sizes. Drafted this one in my standard software across three evenings of tweaks.

Im really happy with how the wing membranes came out. The feathered satin fill runs directionally across each membrane section to give a kinda stretched skin look, the way real bat wings pull tight over the bone structure. Hoop with a firm cutaway sheet underneath and use a light water-soluble topping on anything with a pile or texture, otherwise the weave eats the purple sections and you lose the gradient.

A customer wrote me last week after stitching the 7.51-inch version on a black hoodie, said the wing edges came out sharper than expected. Pair it with dark charcoal, black, or very deep navy base fabrics. Light fabrics make the blue look washed out and the purple basically disappears. Ive had DnD merch people, gothic fantasy sellers, and anime convention vendors all ordering this one in the last month. Youre gonna be suprised how clean the feathered wing detail reads even at the 3.51-inch size. Got your order details ready? Send the finished photo over once youve stitched it out.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Back panel on a black hoodie or pullover sweatshirtThe 7.51-inch size at 58,252 stitches sits well on a hoodie back with medium cutaway backing.
  • Centre chest on a gothic-style dark navy teeNavy or charcoal tees let the 5-colour gradient from purple to navy read with full contrast.
  • Fantasy or DnD themed custom merch apparelDnD merch customers often pick the 5-inch version for a chest badge-style placement.
  • Large patch on a black denim jacket backDenim jacket backs need a firm cutaway and the larger 6-inch size to fill the panel.
  • Anime convention exclusive tote bag or backpackCanvas tote bags with a tight weave hold the fine feathered satin fills without puckering.
  • Side panel hit on a dark gym bagGym bag side panels work well with the 4-inch mid-range size hooped on nylon.
  • Custom left sleeve on a performance sports jacketPolyester performance jackets need a water-soluble topping to keep the purple fill from sinking.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
