Craft fair season is when I sell the most boho stuff, and this one kinda just flies off the virtual shelf every autumn. Its two feathers hanging from a little red cord loop, the kind of piece that looks like it belongs on a handmade wall hanging or a leather-accented jacket. The upper portions are stitched in silver-grey tatami fill with small black botanical sprigs dotted across the grey barbs and the barb tips left wispy and frayed-looking, then the mid-section banding goes deep black with tiny white botanical sprigs scattered through, and the tips are a warm terracotta that fills out in directional satin runs. Five colours total and the density is real high on this one, around 868 stitches per square centimetre, so the finished piece has that thick luxe feel you dont normally get from simpler designs.

Hoop it on canvas or a firm woven twill and youll be fine. Cutaway stabiliser is what I use on anything with this much coverage because the underlay layers build up and a tearaway just wont hold flat. Cushion covers and tote bags suit the 5.31 inch wide size well, but honestly the smaller sizes around 3 inches are what most folks end up using on jacket backs or denim patches. Try centering the red loop right at a seam-line if youre placing it on a bag flap. Avoid lightweight jersey for this one because the density will pucker the fabric even with topping.

A crafter I know in Nashville last week put together a whole boho nursery mobile using three of these stitched on linen squares and they turned out realy lovely. Stitch the 4 inch on a cream linen swatch, back it with felt, and hang them in a cluster. Pop the terracotta thread with a burnt-orange bobbin colour for the tip sections and youll get even more depth where the directional satin catches the light.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Denim jacket back panelA buyer put this on her market apron last season and said the terracotta tip colour matched her brand palette perfectly.
  • Boho wall hanging hoopCenter the 5 inch on a flat canvas front panel, just below the handles, and it fills that blank space perfectly.
  • Canvas tote bagStitch it on a cream linen hoop and the silver-grey feather body reads super clean against the natural ground.
  • Cushion cover accentCushion covers in charcoal velvet make the white botanical sprigs pop in a way that plain cotton doesnt quite do.
  • Nursery mobile linen panelSmall 3 inch version on a linen square, backed with batting, hangs beautifully as part of a nursery mobile set.
  • Festival bag patchFestival bags and cross-body straps suit the 2.48 inch smallest size, tight enough not to crowd the seam.
  • Jean pocket detailJean pocket placement works if you use a firm cutaway behind the denim so the tatami fill stays raised and crisp.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
