Two colours sounds like barely anything but thats the whole point of this design, its a line-art piece where all the interest is in the linework itself, not colour layering. The my main digitising tool digitising uses variable satin column widths to suggest the hair waves and the detail near the crown, so the 8,459 stitches at the smallest size still read as a complete portrait and not just a scribble. Nine sizes from 2.91 inches wide up to 6.23 inches, and the stitch count climbs to 25,029 at the largest where the line detail gets genuinely fine.

Density is set at 536, which is medium-light, and thats deliberate for a line-art design, you dont want heavy satin coverage, ya want the lines to look like they were drawn, not painted. Use a medium tearaway stabiliser on woven cotton and linen. On stretch fabrics like jersey or bamboo blend, switch to a light cutaway so the linework doesnt distort when the fabric relaxes after hooping. Add a water-soluble topping on napped fabric.

I started seeing a bunch of requests for this kind of minimal boho face design back in october and it was clear people wanted something that worked on fashion items, not just craft hoops. I had one customer write me in november specifically asking for a version that would work on both a tote and a denim jacket without changing thread. Tote bags, denim jackets, cushion covers in neutral tones, the 2-colour palette suits all of them because it doesnt compete with the fabric colour. Pick a dark thread on a pale ground or a cream thread on charcoal for the most graphic version of this.

After washing, press from the reverse side on a folded towel, the line-art satin columns stay straighter if you avoid pressing directly on them while still warm.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Denim jacket back panel artStitch the chest-5 in on the upper denim utility back using cutaway stabiliser; charcoal thread on mid-blue denim is a strong contrast.
  • Fashion tote bag front designCentre a 4.5 inch feature on heavy-duty tote front with tearaway; the two-colour palette works on any canvas tone.
  • Boho cushion cover centrePlace the 5.5 inch detail on linen cushion cover front using medium tearaway; press reverse-side after washing to keep satin straight.
  • Linen shirt chest embroideryUse the 3-inch size at left chest on a cotton or linen shirt with medium tearaway; the line art reads cleanly at this scale.
  • Wall art hoop neutral decorMount a 6-inch version on ivory linen at 7-inch frame with cutaway backer for a minimalist wall art piece.
  • Yoga mat bag embroidery panelStitch the chest 4 in on a canvas yoga mat bag front using tearaway; satin lines hold shape well on structured canvas.
  • Cotton scarf corner accentPlace the 2.91-inch size at the corner of a cotton or linen scarf using light tearaway and slow speed on the fine linework passes.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
