These are heavy fill wings, the kind that read bold at a distance, not outline-only. Every feather row is solid black satin fill with white gaps between them, what you see as white detail is the absence of stitch, not a second thread colour. Thats what gives it the two-tone look from a single black load, zero colour changes. Density is 1,145 per inch, one of the denser fills I offer, so it needs a firm stabiliser underneath.
Use a firm cutaway under any fabric heavier than quilting cotton, the fill will push lightweight bases out of the hoop if the backing is too soft. For the 5 and 6-inch sizes on medium denim or canvas, a single layer of tearaway works, but cutaway is always safer. Plan for a longer sew time on the 7-inch, it runs to 57,624 stitches and takes a while on domestic machines. I get questions about this one running on home machines, and the answer is yes it does finish, but one customer told me they ran it at 70% speed last autumn to avoid thread breaks on the dense sections, smart approach for high-density fills.
No halo, no lettering, just the wing silhouette. People have been ordering it for memorials, gothic fashion and sports gear, the wings dont carry a fixed theme, context does that work. Five sizes from a 4x4 hoop up to a 5x7. Skip the pale pastel fabrics, the black doesnt read well against them. Choose a dark or high-contrast base and the white feather gaps do all the work.
