The gnome is on the left and the BOO! is on the right, and together theyre filling the frame in a wide horizontal layout. The gnome has that classic minimal-face gnome look where the hat brim basically comes down to the nose tip and the rest is beard. Its a purple hat with scattered small star shapes stitched into it, thats the witch detail, and the broom is over-the-shoulder with a fat yellow bristle head. Youre basically getting 2 designs in one here, a character piece and a typography piece.

But honestly the BOO! is the star of this design. The letters are big, blocky and almost comic-book style with diagonal stripe fill inside each letter and a thick black outline. Inside the two O letters theres an open circular void and a hanging spider in each one, small 8-legged shapes dangling from a thread. The exclamation mark is outlined only, which gives it a slightly different visual weight and stops the whole thing feeling too heavy on the right side. 9 colours, 8 colour changes.

Stitch count starts at 15,177 on the smallest 1.94-inch height size, goes up to 36,474 on the largest at 5.5 inches wide. Its a wide design so it works best on things with horizontal space, aprons, tote bags, sweatshirt fronts, that kind of thing. Best on black, dark grey or white ground. The orange and purple halloween palette is strongest against black. Use cutaway on any knit or fleece garment. I had a customer last halloween tell me she stitched the 4-inch hoop on a black apron for a baking party and every single person at the table asked where they could get the same file.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween sweatshirts and hoodiesThe wide horizontal layout sits perfectly across a sweatshirt chest at the 4.5-inch or 5-inch size
  • Trick-or-treat bags and tote bagsOn a black canvas trick-or-treat bag the orange and purple pop hard, one of my favourite placements for this design
  • Kids Halloween costumes and accessoriesWorks on a kids cape or witch costume piece as a front panel detail that adds character without being scary
  • Halloween aprons and kitchen itemsStitch on a black cotton apron for a halloween baking day piece, the BOO! reads from across the kitchen
  • Seasonal throw pillows and cushion coversOn a dark grey pillow cover this is the kind of seasonal swap that gets packed away with the halloween decorations and pulled back out each year
  • Halloween market stall merchandiseMakes a fast-to-produce item for craft market halloween season because the design is recognisable from a distance
  • Party banners and fabric buntingStitch repeated at the 2-inch size along a strip of fabric for a gnome-themed halloween bunting

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
