The boy and dog friendship silhouette is drawn as a single flat shape at 5.51 inches on the smallest and 8.5 inches on the largest, the 2 figures walking close enough that youd almost miss the gap between them. No face detail, no fill shading, just clean chocolate brown satin outline against a pale ground. Its the kind of simple image that looks like it belongs on a sign at the end of a country lane, and it works on fabric exactly the same way.

professional digitising software sorted the edge satin and underlay, 13 colour passes in total even for what looks like a single-colour design because the software layers the density across the outline width to stop puckering. Hoop counts run from 31,519 stitches at the 5.51 by 4.95 inch smallest size up to 55,020 at 8.5 by 7.66 inches across 7 sizes. The density is 845 stitches per square inch so medium-weight cutaway stabiliser under a kraft canvas tote is the right call here. Dont try tearaway on canvas, it wont hold flat.

I ran a test version on a natural cotton drawstring bag last spring and a customer spotted it in a photo I posted, she ordered 3 for her sons birthday party favours. Kids tote bags, each one with a 6-inch version centre front. Came out really clean. The chocolate thread on natural canvas looked almost like a stamp rather than stitching, which was the whole point.

Pair it on light or natural fabric only. Skip white-on-white or the silhouette blends away. Run the largest 8.5 inch on a canvas backpack back panel, centre it with 2 inches margin on each side. Use the 5.5-inch file across a kids shirt left-chest or jacket front. Add a name below in a simple running stitch font and it becomes a proper personalised gift.

Ping me on the shop chat if the download link gives you trouble and I will get it sorted straight away.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
