Mocked up this one for the anti-Valentine crowd, the people who want something with a bit of an edge rather than a cute pink heart. The design is a chunky heart with a crack right down through the upper middle, three nails punched through at different angles, and dark red drips hanging off the bottom. The nail heads have silvery highlights stitched on top so theyll catch light and look almost metallic when they stitch out.

Five colours: Red covers the main heart body, Dark Red handles the fracture lines and drip shadows, Grey fills the nail shafts, White lands on the highlights on each nail head, Black closes the thick outer outline. The colour order runs red body first, then the crack detail goes over it, then the shaft fills come in, then the white highlights on top, and the black outline closes everything out. That sequence matters, dont rearrange the thread order or the layering wont hold right.

Density is 599, moderate, gives the red fill a solid look without going stiff. Stitch counts go from 9,455 on the smallest 2.79-inch size to 26,835 at the large 5.97 inches wide. Pop tearaway behind canvas, but for softer fabric use a cutaway because the design has alot of directional fill in the heart body and a tearaway will pull and distort the crack lines. A customer stitched the small 3.5 on a black canvas zip pouch just last month, said the contrast with the red on black was exactly what they wanted. On black or dark fabric, skip the underlay on the nail sections. The grey reads fine without it and white underlay under the nail area on black can look chalky and off.

Best on black, dark navy, charcoal, or any dark solid fabric. Also works on white if youre going for more of a graphic art look. Avoid light pastel backgrounds, the red just goes soft. Message me if you need a specific size adjusted or the crack colour feels too similar to the body fill in your thread brand.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
