So the bulldog is just lying there, chin flat on the surface, jowls spread out sideways, staring straight at you. Its got a very specific look, the one thats half resigned and half daring you to say something about it. The full face is front-on so you get the complete jowl situation, wide drooping folds of skin on each side of the mouth.

Its drawn in a pen-etching style. The outline runs the full silhouette, ears, top of the head, the wide jaw line. Inside it, fine parallel line shading builds up the wrinkles across the forehead, the deep fold above the nose and the shadow under the jowls. The digitizer ran a slightly denser fill on the nose to give it that dark squashed look. Two colours only, black and mid-grey, but because the line work is detailed it reads like a proper portrait illustration rather than a flat cartoon.

Nine sizes, smallest is 2.17 by 3.5 inches, biggest is 4.65 by 7.5. At 18k stitches on the large the density is moderate, 536 stitches per square inch, so it stitches out cleanly on medium-weight cutaway. Caps and flat-weave cotton are where this design realy shines. Use a firm base, and dont try floating it on stretchy jersey without cutaway underneath or the shading lines will gap.

Works on white, cream, pale grey, light khaki backgrounds. Black fabric kills the mid-grey hatching so avoid it. Best on solid colours so the sketch detail carries. One customer last spring did the largest size on a structured white baseball cap, it looked like a proper shop-bought hat. Pop it on a tote, a cotton apron or a dog dads sweatshirt pocket too.

Send the shop a message if the grey shading is pulling or gapping and Ill troubleshoot the tension.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
