Its a bumblebee but not a cute lil cartoon version. This one is detailed, almost scientific looking but with a graffiti edge because of the scatter dots and streaks flying out around it. Big compound eyes, oversized and slightly unnerving in the best way. The yellow and black stripes on the abdomen use directional stitching so they actually follow the curve of the body instead of sitting flat. The wings are semi-transparent with a soft lavender grey shading that stops em looking like two white blobs.

Around the outside black and yellow splash dots fly outward like the bee just landed hard and kicked up colour. And that little bit of warm tan and olive brown on the thorax breaks the yellow-black pattern so it reads less like a cartoon and more like an actual specimen illustration. Eight colours in total, 5 sizes from 3.5 inches up to 7.51 inch at the largest.

I get alot of orders for this one from beekeepers and garden centre owners, mostly for tote bags and aprons. One customer last spring asked for the 7-inch version for a beekeeper supply shop, stitched onto black canvas totes, and the density on the body sections came out realy crisp. At 47k stitches on the big size its one of my denser designs but my usual software pulled clean satin columns all the way through.

Stitch on black, charcoal or deep navy fabric and the yellow just explodes off the background. Pop the smaller petite 3.5 on a chest pocket or a tote handle panel. Use a firm cutaway stabiliser underneath, the ink-scatter sections carry short dense fill stitches and they can pull linen or jersey if you under-stabilise. Avoid topping on the wings because it muddies the semi-transparent lavender shading.

Best results on woven cotton or canvas. Slow the machine slightly on the compound eye sections, theres alot of tight satin work packed in there and rushing it causes thread breaks. Holler at me if the file doesnt open right in your software and ill get it sorted straight away.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Beekeeper aprons and equipment bagsStitch the 6-inch size on a waxed canvas apron for a beekeeper and it reads professional without being too cute.
  • Garden centre canvas tote bagsPop it on a ecru canvas tote for a garden centre shop counter, great for selling alongside seed packets.
  • Nature-themed tee shirtsUse the medium 5-inch on a black cotton tee for nature lovers and the yellow really pops off dark fabric.
  • Kitchen towels and linen giftsEmbroider the smaller petite 3.5 on a linen tea towel corner for a kitchen gift set with a botanical feel.
  • Botanical art hoops for wall displayHoop the largest size in a 10-inch frame on black linen for a dramatic wall piece, the splatter dots look intentional.
  • Outdoor market vendor apronsStitch on a canvas market apron for a farmers market vendor selling honey, its a natural fit for the branding.
  • Kids science camp backpacksPop a small version on a kids canvas backpack for a summer nature camp, the big eyes get a great reaction.
  • Wildflower honey business branding merchUse on tote bags or merch for an artisan honey brand, the ink-splatter vibe gives it an independent label feel.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
