So this ones an open book with butterflies streaming out the pages like the story itself decided to fly off. Theres about nine butterflies stacked up the middle, every wing pair carrying its own colour mix, pink magenta red orange green blue, and they fan out as they rise. The book sits flat at the bottom with a dark green spine and that nice ripple of pages fanning open. Smallest size 3.49 inches, runs across 9 sizes.
Wings use directional satin stitching so each butterfly has its own little texture going on. Pages flow as long ripple lines that give that paper-edge look you actually want, not just a flat tan block. Black outlines round each butterfly keep them readable even at the smallest sizes.
I drew this one with teachers and reading-corner stuff in mind, but a librarian sister of one customer got an apron stitched with it last christmas and that kicked off a small run of library tote orders. School book club shirts have been picking it up too, anything literacy themed.
And the colour count is the trickiest bit. 14 thread changes feels alot but most stay short runs under 1000 stitches so the swap pace keeps managable. Smallest size sits at 13,225 stitches, largest hits 7.49 inches wide and 34,725 stitches, spread across nine total size options.
Stitch it on cotton, linen, denim or a sturdy canvas tote. Reach for a medium cutaway since dense butterfly clusters sit in the middle and want a stable base. Skip stretchy knits at the bigger sizes, the pages section can pucker if the fabric shifts. Hit my inbox direct if the download wont open for ya and a fresh copy is gonna land in your email same day.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Teacher tote bagsStitched dead centre on a heavy canvas teacher tote it makes a back-to-school gift that actually gets used daily.
- Library volunteer apronsA medium size on the chest panel of a library volunteer apron adds personality without crowding the pocket area.
- Reading nook cushion coversCentred on a square linen cushion cover it lifts a kids reading nook far more than a plain bookshelf would.
- School book club tshirtsOn the front of a club tshirt it pulls together members across grades and ages, the butterflies read at distance.
- Childrens story quilt centre blockUse the largest size as the central block of a story-themed quilt and surround it with smaller text blocks.
- Bookworm gift hoodiesStitched on the back of a hoodie for the bookworm in your life, it lands as a thoughtful gift not generic merch.
- Classroom curtain trimA small size repeated along a classroom curtain trim turns a bare panel into something the kids actually notice.
- Literacy fundraiser totesPop it on a literacy fundraiser tote for school events, the colour mix grabs attention at sale tables.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
