A butterfly centered inside a clean circle, wings spread wide, every vein line drawn out inside each panel. Single colour throughout, no fill, just the outline. The vein detail is what makes this one worth stitching, the lines go from the wing body outward in a natural branching pattern so it actually looks like a real butterfly wing under a magnifying glass rather than a flat cartoon shape. Six sizes, 2.5 inches all the way at top 7.5 wide, stitches running 2,309 to 10,222.
the file came out of my usual software with all outline work and the density is low at 185, which means it runs quick and light. Hoop a medium tearaway stabiliser on most woven fabrics, this doesnt need the heavy cutaway treatment. On linen or cotton it sits really flat and the vein lines stay crisp. The circle outline is a single satin run so dont rush that section or you can get wobble at the join point.
Honestly one of those designs thats harder to place wrong than it is to get right. I get messages from people who stitched it on everything from tote bags to notebooks to jacket back panels. A customer asked me last spring if I had a version without the circle because they wanted just the butterfly, which I dont, but the circle frames it so nicely it works better as a unit anyway. Pop it on natural linen and the negative space becomes part of the composition.
Use a tearaway on stable woven cotton or linen. Back with light cutaway if you want something you can wash hard. Works in black, navy, sage, rust or even dusty pink depending on the fabric. Stitch it on a tote bag, a notebook cover, a linen cushion panel, a canvas hat. Skip stretchy fabrics unless you stabilise properly. Pick any thread colour you like and itll work, thats the advantage of single-colour line art.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Nature-themed tote bags and canvas pouchesThe clean single-colour line makes this perfect on a natural linen tote, especially in charcoal or navy thread on undyed fabric.
- Linen cushion covers and home decor panelsStitch the 6-in feature on a parchment linen cushion panel for a botanical home decor piece that looks like it came from a design shop.
- Botanical journal or notebook fabric coversThis works beautifully centered on a fabric-covered journal or sketchbook cover, especially for art and nature lovers.
- Spring and summer apparel chest placementThe 3 to 4 inch size sits well centered on a shirt chest or on a canvas bag flap for everyday wear.
- Canvas wall art panels and embroidery hoopsStretched in a wooden hoop and left as is, the 7.5-in build makes a finished wall display piece without any framing needed.
- Personalised gifts with name or monogram belowAdd a name or short text below the circle and the design becomes a personalised gift suitable for any age.
- Eco-friendly reusable shopping bagsStitched on a sturdy cotton or canvas bag, this makes a lovely eco-friendly gift that people actually use every day.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
