3 butterflies sitting close together in a loose cluster, wings spread at slightly different angles so they dont look like a copy-paste repeat. The largest one anchors the centre, the other 2 sit behind and to the sides so you get that layered depth without any butterfly actually overlapping another in a way that muddies the stitching. industry tools pulled proper directional satin columns across the wings so ya get wing vein texture, not just flat colour fills.
Colour-wise its built around dusty lavender and soft mauve tones, 4 threads total. The wing bases fade lighter toward ivory using short directional satin runs, and the dark charcoal outline holds each butterfly as a crisp separate shape. Its got that pressed-flower quality, like something youd see in a botanical print. Thats the result I was aiming for, familiar and calm rather than anything loud.
My mum spotted this one and straight away wanted it on a cushion cover. She told me the size 3 butterflies looked like the ones that used to land on her garden lavender. Light density at 432 stitches per square inch means it lays flat on quilting cotton without any puckering, even at the larger 7.51-inch width.
Use a good quality 40-weight thread for the wing vein satin. Hoop firm on a single layer of cutaway stabiliser so the butterfly shapes dont shift between colour changes. Check your bobbin tension before you start because those narrow satin columns will show thread pull if it drifts. Keep the machine speed moderate through the vein detail sections. Ping me if anything looks off and Ill check the file for you.
Runs 6,663 to 17,403 stitches depending on size. Four colour stops, all 8 formats included, zip is ready straight after checkout.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
