The butterfly floral frame is two thin concentric rings with small five-petal flowers dotted evenly all the way around the outer edge. Each flower is simple, a round centre with five rounded petals, not fussy at all. A single butterfly perches on the left side of the ring, wings open, with ribbed lines through each wing panel and a thicker body section. It sits where a 9 o'clock position would be on a clock face, giving the whole thing a nice asymmetric feel.
Single colour throughout, no thread swaps at all. I digitised the flower petals as satin sections and kept the ring as a clean running stitch so the whole design stitches out pretty fast. The 5 sizes go from 3.18 x 3.51 inches at around 4,814 stitches up to 6.8 x 7.51 inches at about 10,200. Place tearaway under woven cotton or linen, cutaway if youre putting this on a stretchy jersey or fleece.
The centre is completely open so its ready for whatever you want to add. Customers use it for monogram projects mostly, a block letter or script initial inside the flower ring looks really clean. Last Christmas my sister stitched the 5-in size white cotton towels with sage green thread for a guest bathroom set and the feedback from everyone who saw them was great. Stitch on cream or white fabric for maximum impact. Works on canvas bags, linen napkins, and small cotton pouches. Dont use busy patterned fabric since the flower detailing is fine and gets lost on print backgrounds. Use a soluble topping on waffle weave towels to keep those flower petals sharp.
