Stitched this one out to give people a heart design that feels alive rather than static. The outer shape is a large heart outline done as a thick red satin column, and growing in and out of that outline are vine stems with small leaves and little mini hearts scattered along them like buds. Two small butterfly silhouettes sit on the lower left section of the heart, wings open, done in black outline so they read as a separate delicate element from the red vine work.

Two colours, red and black, but the composition earns its variety from the mix of elements. That outer heart line dominates the design and sits with a smooth raised finish on most cotton and linen fabrics. The black butterfly outlines are done in fine satin lines that need good consistent hooping to stay sharp at the smaller sizes. Pack a tearaway behind woven cotton or linen, cutaway for jersey. The smaller 3.5-inch size is probably the most versatile since it fits a standard 4x4 hoop and still shows all the vine and butterfly detail.

Five sizes from 3.5 to 7-in across, heights 3.0 to 6.42 inches. The stitch count runs from 7,337 at the smallest to 14,551 at the largest which keeps the stitching time reasonable even on the bigger sizes. Its a less dense design than the umbrella or gnome pieces in this collection so a firm tearaway is usually enough on most wovens without going to cutaway.

I realy like this one for spring and early summer projects outside valentines season. My friend asked me for a design for a linen tote she was making for a garden party and this was the obvious choice, the botanical vine element makes it feel right for that occasion even without the seasonal context. Pair it on cream, white, sage or dusty rose fabric. Skip patterned backgrounds. Hoop the fabric drum-tight before you start. Thats kinda essential. Heres my pick, sage linen wins. Im sure of it. Youll see.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Valentine's Day tote bags and gift wrapsA 5-inch print on a beige canvas tote reads as both a valentines gift and a year-round botanical accessory.
  • Spring and garden party linen bagsThe vine and butterfly elements make this feel like a garden illustration, working well on linen bags for spring markets or garden parties.
  • Wedding favour pouchesA small 3.5-inch version stitched on a muslin wedding favour pouch has a romantic botanical quality that suits outdoor garden ceremonies.
  • Shirt front or pocket accentsPlaced on the upper left chest of a white linen shirt it is subtle and elegant without being an obvious seasonal statement.
  • Framed botanical hoop artStretched in a 6-inch round hoop and framed this reads as a botanical art print and works in any room where floral decor fits.
  • Table runner or napkin corner accentsStitched on linen napkin corners for a dinner table setting it gives every place setting a small romantic botanical detail.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
