Played with this idea for a while before it clicked. White cotton or cream canvas, no outline, no border on the heart itself. The whole thing is a crowd of butterflies and small 5-petal flowers packed tightly together until the cluster reads as a heart. You only see the heart because of where the shapes stop. its one of those builds that looks complicated from a distance and suprisingly graphic up close.

And every single element is the same solid red. No shading, no second thread colour, no gradients. Each butterfly uses a standard satin-fill on both wings with a fine centre body line. The flowers are round 5-petal rosettes, petals meeting in the middle like a simple daisy, scattered among the butterflies so theres no obvious repeat pattern. Density sits at 554 stitches per inch which gives real body and a proper fabric-weight look once its off the hoop.

Ive run this on valentines day projects more than anything, but it works year-round on anything thats already got a feminine or nature theme. 4 sizes from 3.01 by 3.5 inches up to 6.45 by 7.5. Biggest size hits around 26k stitches so budget 20-25 minutes on a decent home machine. A customer stitched the large size onto a red velvet piece last winter and said it practically vanished into the fabric, which is exactly the wrong colour choice for this one.

Pick a light or neutral background so the red has somewhere to breathe. White cotton, cream canvas, pale grey fleece all work well. Avoid anything dark red or burgundy, the design wont show. Use a medium to firm cutaway stabiliser and hoop tight, theres a lot of dense satin going on and it needs grip. Skip any stretchy knit fabric unless youre floating it on cutaway because the density will distort a loose weave. Try a tearaway on tightly woven denim if youre doing a jacket back.

my workhorse software digitised, Tajima-format base which is the DST format your machine almost certainly reads. All 8 formats included. Holler if something doesnt load and Ill walk you through the fix.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
