The butterfly sits dead centre, wings flat-open, with that monarch colouring going coral-pink on the upper wings and golden yellow in the lower panels. Around it on both sides, hibiscus-style blooms in blush pink with pale lemon stamens lean inward toward the butterfly, and dark olive foliage fills in the gaps. The composition is symmetrical left to right, which is why it works so well on bag panels and cushion centres where you need the eye to land in one spot.

Density is moderate at 781, which means this stitches out faster than it looks. The flower petals are satin-filled with directional underlay, and the butterfly wing sections are split into tonal bands where the golden-yellow base and the coral-pink overlay meet with a clean edge. digitising tools used 194 trims in the smallest version alone, which sounds like alot but the bobbin tension holds fine because each individual element is small. Eight colours total: the two wing tones, blush for the flowers, lemon for the flower centres, olive green, chocolate brown for the insect spine and stems, peach for the petal shading, and black for outlining.

Botanical butterfly designs get ordered by a suprisingly wide range of customers and Im always a bit amazed by it. One customer ordered the 4.5-inch placement on natural linen tablecloth panel earlier this year for a spring wedding table runner. She said the colour accuracy on that warm yellow wing section came out exactly right on the off-white linen. Thats the kind of project this fits perfectly.

Best on natural linen, cream cotton, or white canvas. The olive foliage disappears completely on dark fabric, so avoid navy or black. Run at standard speed with cutaway stabiliser, the density is low enough that you wont need to slow down for any section. Skip the topping unless youre going onto a waffle or towelling texture.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
