Took a fashion illustration approach and kept it deliberately minimal. The girl's almost entirely in black line-work. Long flowing hair, soft downward gaze, the kind of sketch quality you'd see in a fashion magazine, not a cartoon. Then just two butterflies break that restraint: a hot pink one settled in her hair near the top, a softer blue one sitting on her fingers at chin height. The face gets a light pink fill, nothing heavy, more like a watercolour wash in thread. Four thread colours total, which means a fast stitch out and easy bobbin management on this one.
Customers asked about this for fashion-forward projects specifically, and I think thats the right instinct. It doesnt look cute or country-style, it looks like actual fashion art. The stitch density is kept low enough that even the individual hair strands separate clearly on fabric. I finished a test run on a canvas tote this spring and it got three compliments on the same day I carried it.
Tape a single layer of medium tearaway behind your fabric before you hoop it. On stretchy knits, add a topping of water-soluble film over the surface so the fine directional lines stay sharp and dont sink into the weave. Use a cutaway backing instead of tearaway on jersey and youll get a cleaner result. Its worth doing a test stitch on a spare scrap first. Stitch the 4-inch size for a chest pocket, the 6-inch for a full tote side. Nine sizes from 3.51 x 2.42 inches up to 7.51 x 5.19 inches. Message me if anything looks off when you stitch it out.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Fashion tote bags and market bags for adultsThe narrow vertical format fits beautifully in the side panel of a canvas tote without crowding.
- Women's zip-front hoodie chest panelChest placement on a hoodie works well at the 4-inch size, just left of centre.
- Clutch purses and evening bag frontsThe minimal colour palette lets the fine line work shine on dark or light fabric alike.
- Denim jacket shoulder or chest placementOn a denim jacket shoulder the black linework pops against the indigo fabric without extra contrast colour.
- Silk or satin pillow covers for a bedroomUse a stabiliser topping on satin so the needle tracks dont snag the weave.
- Art prints framed as hoop wall decorFrame the finished hoop in a white mat for a clean fashion-art look on a bedroom wall.
- Gift sets paired with a matching scrunchie or headbandStitch on a canvas pouch and pair with a pink scrunchie for a coordinated gift.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
