This is a circular wreath built entirely from butterflies and green leaf branches, and its kinda just a very satisfying shape to stitch. Five butterflies sit evenly spaced around the ring, alternating between a dusty pink fill and a pale mint-white, each one perched on a curving branch section covered in small oval leaves. There are no flowers here, no ribbon, no text, the butterflies are the whole wreath and it works really well as a standalone centrepiece design.

Done in my software so the wing fill density stays even across all 5 sizes without the satin columns widening out at the larger hoop. The 6 colour stops run deep green for the leaf branches, light mint for the wing base, dusty pink as the overlay colour on top, black for the body and outline details, a medium brown for the antennae, and a darker warm brown covering the vein lines on the wings. Only 5 colour changes which keeps the digitising clean and your run time down.

With 10,569 stitches at a 3.5 mini size and 24,027 at the full 7.5-inch, this is gonna hoop cleanly on most mid-size machines. The circular shape means you want to centre it carefully before you hoop. I recommend marking your fabric centre with a water-soluble pen first. Use a medium tearaway on quilting cotton or a light cutaway on any stretch fabric. Skip the topping on flat woven linen, but add it if youre gonna stitch this on a fluffy velvet or fleece.

A customer told me they ran the 6-in centre on a white linen tablecloth centre panel for a spring table setting and it held up through washing without the green bleeding. That linen-plus-tearaway combo is really solid for this design. Best results Ive personally seen are on natural linen or pale sage green cotton where the dusty pink butterflies have that soft garden-party feel.

Pair it with solid satin stitch lettering inside the ring if you want to customise it later. Pick a 75/11 needle for most applications and run the underlay at a low density so the base fabric doesnt push through the satin layers.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Spring tote bag front panelThe 5-inch size placed on a flax linen tote looks clean and holds detail well on flat woven fabric
  • Linen tablecloth centrepiece for a garden partyUse the 7-inch size on a 60-inch wide linen tablecloth panel at the centre point with tearaway stabiliser underneath
  • Baby shower gift pillow coverPop the 4-in piece on a plain white or pale pink cotton pillow cover for a baby shower gift with a name added below
  • Kids bedroom cushion or wall hoopThe 4-in feature on a linen square stretched and pinned in a 6-inch wooden hoop makes a simple wall decoration for a kids room
  • Apron bib panel for spring marketsCentre the 5-inch on an apron bib on medium-weight canvas with tearaway and a 75/11 needle
  • Canvas zip pouch for a floral gift setRun the 3.5-in centre on a flat cotton zip pouch front for a floral spring gift set paired with other spring designs
  • Bridal shower tote or favour bagUse the 5-in build on a plain white cotton tote as a bridal shower favour with a small name tag attached

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
