This is a genuinely funny one. Its a cartoon bird face peeking in from the side, the whole expression is manic and wide-eyed, with oversized round eyes and that big flat orange beak. The wild blue feather-spikes sticking up from the top of the head are what make it recognisable from across the room. Behind all of that theres a splatter of paint-splash shapes in pink and blue, like someone threw paint at the wall and then drew a bird over the top of it. Thats the part that makes it feel current rather than a clip-art throwback.

Nine colours including the grey body area, the blue head feathers, the pink splash shapes, the beak orange, black outlines, white eye areas, and a couple of accent tones in between. 8 colour changes to manage. Pop a light tearaway under it on stable cotton, or use a medium-weight cutaway on stretch fabric. The eye areas run at 868 density so secure the backing properly or the circles can distort. 8 sizes from 2.28 inches tall up to 4.56 inches, stitches from 11,722 to 27,710. Use a topper on any fabric with texture or pile and the beak and eye outlines stay sharp. Skip the topper on smooth cotton and the outlines do the work on their own.

She sent me a photo last week of the 4-in chest on a white canvas backpack and honestly it looked like a sticker someone had ironed on. Thats the combination of the paint-splash background and the heavy black outlines, they photograph flat and graphic. Good for kids bags, novelty projects, the sort of things where you want something that provokes a reaction. Stitch it on a bright yellow or mint tote and those splatter shapes pop completely differently against the warm ground.

Send a quick note if anything needs fixing up.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids backpack or school bagAt 4 inches on a white canvas backpack the paint-splash reads like printed art rather than stitching.
  • Canvas tote for a market or casual carryThe wide beak and big eyes hold detail well at 2.28 inches for a small zip pouch pocket.
  • Novelty cushion cover for a playroom or bedroomOn a kids sweatshirt the chest 3.5 sits neatly on the left chest without overwhelming.
  • Sweatshirt front or sleeve placementA novelty cushion in the 4-inch size works for a playroom or a quirky guest room accent.
  • Kids cap or bucket hatThe nine-colour palette makes it a good fit for colourful canvas totes or printed-look projects.
  • Zipper pouch or pencil caseStitched on a canvas pencil case it gives the sort of personality kids actually want on their stuff.
  • Fabric gift bag or party favor pouchThe sketch-quality style also works on fabric gift bags for craft fairs or market stalls.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
