The cat is grey and round and sitting up straight in the kayak like a proper paddler except its a cat so the effect is absolutely brilliant. Big closed-eye smile, pink bow on top of the head, one paw gripping the paddle and the other resting casually on the edge of the boat. The kayak stripes run horizontal in warm coral, yellow and teal, all stacked neatly. And in the back of the boat theres a tiny cocktail umbrella because this cat is on holiday and its got the accessories to prove it.
Eleven colours and the water is the most technically interesting bit to stitch. Short satin strokes in alternating directions build up the teal wave texture, and theres a splash of white foam along the kayak sides. The paddle is dusty pink with a slightly darker handle, single satin column runs. All the cat outlines run in a medium charcoal rather than pure black which keeps the whole thing looking soft and friendly. Stitch count for the top 7.5 tops out at 58k, my workhorse software digitised it with good density so it lays flat without any bubbling on the wide stripe sections.
My sister saw this one last summer and immediately wanted it on a beach towel for her daughter whos really into kayaking. She was eleven at the time, found it funnier than anything I expected an eleven year old to find funny. Customers who paddle or canoe love the joke, and I get orders for it on water sports bags, swim kit pouches and kids summer gear through june and july every year.
Stitch on white or pale teal fabric for maximum colour pop. Works great on white cotton tees, cream canvas beach totes and light blue linen. Use a cutaway stabiliser because 58k on jersey without firm backing will pull the kayak shape out. Hoop with the fabric grain and let the machine ease through the water section at steady speed. Lotta thread changes but the colour order in the file is clean and theres no guessing.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
