Single colour, 6,499 stitches, wide banner proportions at 3.5 inches by 1.93 inches. professional digitising software digitised this at a density of 149 and the layout stacks two levels of text, the smaller celebrate line sits above the bolder spooky season line. Its not just one flat row of lettering, theres actually some visual hierarchy to it and that makes a difference on a simple single-colour piece.
I get messages every september from people asking if theres a spooky season design that doesnt look like a kids halloween novelty. This is the one I point them to. I started making it a few years back when that phrase really took off and this version comes out consistently well across different fabrics. Use a medium weight tearaway on woven fabrics, or a light cutaway on knit jersey if youre putting it on a shirt. Add topping over fleece if you want the satin strokes to stay sharp.
On dark fabrics, black, deep orange, charcoal, the single thread colour just works. Pick white thread on black for the classic version, or try burnt orange on black, ivory on dark green. Both look alright. The low profile of under 2 inches tall makes it easy to place on hats, bags, sleeve cuffs, or a shirt chest without it dominating the piece.
Black sweatshirts are where this one lives most. People use it for matching october birthday shirts, fall market vendor gear, and classroom halloween party supplies. Stitch it on smooth woven cotton when you want clean satin edges without topping. Run a test swatch on your specific fabric first because thread colour choice on this one makes a bigger difference than the stitching itself.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Black sweatshirt chest seasonal letteringBlack sweatshirt chest is where this lives most naturally, the two-tier text creates visual hierarchy even in a single thread colour.
- Halloween baseball cap front panelOctober birthday shirt where the customer wants the seasonal atmosphere without a specific halloween motif, the phrase is perfectly ambiguous.
- Fall market vendor shirt placementFall market vendor gear shirt, the classic spooky season phrase positions a small business as current and on-trend in october.
- October birthday party shirt designSleeve cuff placement on a cotton shirt, the 1.93 inch height fits most cuff bands without needing any modifications to the design.
- Trick-or-treat bag top bannerCanvas trick-or-treat bag top banner, the low profile leaves the whole lower panel open for a name or other design below it.
- Sleeve cuff embellishment on cottonBaseball cap front panel, the wide low proportions suit a hat better than most halloween text designs which are usually too tall.
- Classroom party fabric supply giftDog bandana point, single colour thread on black felt, the compact height sits in the bandana triangle without crowding the tip edge.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
