Its a group of four amanita-style mushrooms and they look like they came straight out of an old foragers handbook. Three of em have those classic red caps with chunky white oval spots, and the big one in the centre is drawn outline-only with the cap left white and open. The stems have fine crosshatch lines worked into the ink so theyre not just flat white tubes, they actually read as a papery stalk. Grass tufts at the base tie the whole cluster together.

Two colours total. Red and black. But professional embroidery software did alot with them. The red caps are satin fill with a slight directional pull that follows the curve of the dome, and the hatching on the stems is a separate black underlay pass. Stitch counts go from 13,538 on the chest 3.5 size up to 30,189 at the widest 7.5-inch run, so the complexity earns its size on the bigger placements. And the outline work stays readable at even the smallest hoop.

I get messages from cottage-style market sellers every autumn asking for a solid mushroom design that doesnt look like a kids cartoon. This ones for them. One customer who runs a forager gift stall grabbed the 6-inch version last september for linen tote bags and sent the result of the whole run, looked gorgeous on natural linen.

Best fabric for this is natural linen, oatmeal cotton canvas, or any cream-toned woven. The red pops off neutral backgrounds without fighting anything. Skip dark navy or forest green here because the outline-only white cap disappears on dark cloth. Use a medium tearaway stabiliser on the woven stuff, switch to cutaway on jersey.

Pop the small 3.5-in feature on a shirt pocket or a cloth napkin corner. Use the big 6.86-inch for a full tote face or a wall hoop framed in wood. So, nine sizes means youre covered for pretty much everything from a jewellery pouch up to a full cushion front. But pair it right, the detail needs room to breathe.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
