Sewing gnome with a tall peach pincushion hat that actually has pins stuck through it, red pin head on the left, purple on the right, orange one near the tip. The hat fabric runs in directional satin so it really looks like pincushion ticking. Below the hat sits a big white bushy beard that hides most of the face except a small visible nose, and the gnomes little arms hold a vintage black sewing machine close to his chest.

Round his feet are the craft supplies, a teal thread spool wound with mint thread, a peach wood spool with yellow thread, and a soft mustard yarn ball with knitting needles poked through. The vintage sewing machine has its mint coloured flywheel rendered in detail, plus a black needle arm and bobbin tray. Lotsa little textures going on, theres a lot to look at.

Fifteen colour changes total. Peach hat shades, white beard, black machine and pin shafts, mint teal, red purple orange pin heads, mustard yarn, plus light grey shadow tones and warm skin tone for the visible nose. The fifteen thread changes mean its a slow sewing run but worth the result.

Quite a few quilters and sewing club ladies grab this one. My mum runs a weekly stitching group and she ordered four for the back of canvas tote favours, ladies turned up looking so pleased when they saw the gnomes. Stitches really sharp on cream or natural calico because the peach hat tones get to glow against light cotton.

Density is heavy at 967 stitches per square inch, total counts run 13,785 at the smallest up to 37,119 at the largest 7.5x5.12 inches. Use a heavy cutaway stabiliser, hoop tight, slow down on the dense hat fill section. Skip stretchy tee jersey, this design needs woven cotton, twill, denim or canvas backing to hold its shape. 40wt rayon thread for the satin sections gives the best shine.

  • Quilting club bench cushionsQuilting bench cushion, the gnome sits at the corner of the work surface and makes the whole corner feel like a proper studio.
  • Sewing machine cover panelsSewing machine cover panel, still visible when the machine is packed away and waiting between projects.
  • Cream calico wall hangingsFabric pin pouch front panel, the pincushion hat on the gnome makes sense as the theme when the pouch holds actual pins.
  • Pincushion fabric pouch frontsChristmas gift tea towel for stitch club members, pair it with a handmade pincushion and the gift feels very considered.
  • Quilters Christmas gift towelsFabric shop staff apron, the pincushion hat tells walk-in customers immediately what kind of shop they are standing in.
  • Fabric shop staff apronsFelt patch for a craft fair badge, back it firmly and the fifteen-colour detail reads as a proper maker statement.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
