I made this one for the chess people, and there are more of them than you'd think ordering embroidery designs. The design shows five main pieces arranged on a chessboard grid, knight, king, queen, bishop, and rook, each one drawn with actual character rather than just a silhouette. You can tell which piece is which not just from the shape but from the way they're rendered, the knight has presence, the queen has height. The board grid underneath grounds them all together and makes the whole thing read as a proper chess scene rather than a scattered collection of shapes.

No dimension data for this one but the horizontal arrangement of pieces across a board section means a 5x7 or wider hoop works better than a square. Stitch count is medium to high given the piece detail and board grid. Two to three colour stops handles this well, typically a dark piece colour, a lighter board, and an outline. Tearaway on firm woven fabrics like canvas and drill; cutaway on stretch. The board grid lines are fine so keep the hoop tension consistent throughout.

Chess club gear is the obvious first application, totes, polo shirts, and zip pouches all make good chess club merchandise. A player I know ordered this for a custom canvas tote to carry his pieces to tournaments and was suprised how much attention it got from other players. Also works really well on a wool or felt cap for the serious player, or on a cushion cover for a games room or library corner. Single colour in a deep black or navy on cream fabric has a very classic look that chess people tend to prefer.

Email me a chat note if you want the pieces separated into individual files for smaller individual placements and Ill sort it out fast.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
