I honestly love this one because its so specific and so silly at the same time. Its a row of four cartoon chickens each dressed in a different Halloween costume, one is a mummy wrapped in bandages, one is a little pumpkin, one is a ghost with a sheet draped over it, and one is a tiny skeleton. They're all drawn in that round chunky cartoon chicken style where their bodies are just big ovals with small wings and feet, and the costumes are these tiny little versions that look ridiculous on a chicken. Above or below the chickens is the pun text Chick or Treat. Its the kind of design that makes people do a double take and then immediately start laughing.
The full size options and stitch counts are in the PDF file included with your purchase. The design is a row layout so its wider than it is tall, which suits tote bags and shirt panels nicely. Multiple colors for the four costumes means several color changes but nothing complicated. Use tearaway on woven fabrics, cutaway on stretch knits and fleece. Hoop firmly and center the row before starting your first pass.
This gets ordered almost exclusively by chicken and farm animal people and by people buying for their farming friends. One customer put it on an apron she made as a birthday gift for a friend who keeps backyard chickens and said the reaction was absolutely worth it. Works really well on a natural canvas tote, a kitchen apron, or a kids Halloween sweatshirt for anyone with a chicken obsession in the family.
Email me if you want just one or two of the chickens isolated from the row and Ill sort it out fast.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Kitchen apron Halloween giftStitched on a natural canvas apron as a gift for a backyard chicken keeper, this is one of those presents that lands really well.
- Canvas tote bag HalloweenCentered on a natural canvas tote for farm market runs through October, the pun reads perfectly from a few feet away.
- Kids Halloween sweatshirtFront of a kids Halloween sweatshirt for anyone with chickens at home or on a farm, a very specific but very appreciated gift.
- Farm-themed Halloween shirtWide panel across the front of a farm-themed Halloween shirt makes a fun alternative to the usual pumpkin or ghost options.
- Cotton kitchen towelAlong the border of a white cotton kitchen towel, the row format sits naturally across the edge as a seasonal accent.
- Halloween party favor bagsStitched onto small fabric bags as Halloween party favors, the Chick or Treat text doubles as a label on the gift.
- Throw pillow coverOn a cream or rust linen pillow cover, four costumed chickens make a funny and unexpectedly charming Halloween decor piece.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
