Five little characters lined up in a row, each one dressed differently but all wearing the same red-and-white striped scarf. You've got a cat with reindeer antlers and sunglasses on the left, then a snowman-shaped figure with a carrot nose, then a round bird type creature in a red Santa hat with its beak sticking out, then a dark cat wearing a pointy hat with a little star on top, and finally a white cat all wrapped up on the right end. The whole thing is kinda just a row of chaotic holiday energy, and it works.

The file runs as a narrow tall border, 5.5 to a 7.5 tall and only 1.54 to 2.1 inches wide. That proportion means it very suits vertical placement, not horizontal, so mentally rotate it when planning your project. I digitised this in industry software with 8 colour threads including red, dark charcoal, warm ivory, orange, soft pink, and black. The density runs at 1,311 stitches per square inch, which keeps the fills manageable for lightweight linen and cotton grounds without overwhelming the weave.

A customer asked about placing this on a tea towel border and yes, thats exactly the application I had in mind when I built it. The narrow width slots along the short edge of a standard kitchen towel without going over the hem. Apply tearaway on woven linen and keep the hoop tension even so the long thin strip doesnt pull diagonally. Run the largest size at 7.5 inches on a cream table runner for a centred seasonal strip that spans the width nicely.

Pair it with a plain hem stitch above and below if youre adding it to a cloth napkin. Skip polyester fabrics for this one, the line-art outline sections look much cleaner on natural fibres where the thread sits on top of the weave rather than sinking into it. Best results on cotton, linen, or a cotton-linen blend. The 8 colour changes are manageable in a single sitting.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cream linen table runner border for Christmas dinnerThe 7.5-inch tall version spans the short end of a standard table runner with visual weight
  • Kitchen towel short-edge placement for a handmade giftKitchen towel hem placement at the 5.5-inch size sits just above the bottom edge fold
  • Cotton cloth napkin set with matching border detailNapkin corners are too small but the bottom-edge centre placement works beautifully
  • Holiday wall hanging panel on natural linenLinen wall panels are light enough that tearaway stabiliser handles the tension without distortion
  • Advent calendar pocket strip along the bottom edgePocket strips on advent calendars pair well with the 5.5-inch compact version
  • Christmas apron bib edge decorationApron bib cotton twill needs a mid-weight cutaway for the long border without curl

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
