Two bullfinches perched side by side, facing each other across a big botanical arrangement. The birds have got those rosy-pink chests that bullfinches are famous for, with grey and brown-streaked wings done in directional stitching so the feathers actually look layered. Underneath them and spreading out to both sides theres a full wreath build-up: bare tan branches with small green leaves, clusters of hot pink berries, two pine cones in gold-tan, big waxy holly leaves in dark green, and a large open poinsettia right in the centre with its red petals and yellow centre. Eleven colours in total and the density sits at 842 so this is proper dense fill work all the way through.

She sent me a photo of her finished piece on a navy linen cushion cover last christmas and it honestly looked like something youd pay decent money for in a gift shop. The stitch count goes from just over 20k stitches at the small size up to 43k at the largest, which is the 6.9 by 7.5 inch version. Takes a while to stitch but the result justifies it. Digitised in the software I use, the colour separation on the bird feathers is really well done. You get clean edges between the grey wing sections and the pink chest fill without bleed.

Pop a medium cutaway stabiliser under your fabric before hooping. This is a dense design and the topping matters too, especially on any fabric with a texture. Use a light wash-away topping on fleece or towelling to stop the stitches sinking in. The poinsettia sections have the densest fill so work through those sections slowly and let the machine keep up with the thread draw.

Stitch it on cream, white, navy or dark green fabric for the best contrast. The 11 colour changes are the main thing to stay on top of but the sequence is logical, birds first then the botanicals from the centre out. Any issues with the file send me a message and Ill rework it fast for you.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
