Pulled this together after a customer asked for something that felt more about books than baubles. The tree isnt a tree at all, its a stack of books, one on top of the next, each spine stitched in its own distinct colour. Rust red at the base, then teal, then mustard, cream in the middle, chocolate near the top, with a handful of accent spines scattered through. It reads like a tree at a glance but get close and its clearly a whole shelf of reads piled up.

my main software routed the 12 colour stops across 4 sizes. The largest runs 51,645 stitches at 7.51 inches wide on heavy cutaway stabiliser, which is what keeps those satin-column spines from warping under that kind of density. The smallest is 4.51 inches, around 30,636 stitches, and fits a standard 5x7 hoop easy. All 12 colours are directional, the spine text stitches run horizontal while the cover blocks run vertical, so the whole thing has alot of texture even at smaller sizes.

Olive corduroy is what it looks stunning on, Im not gonna lie. The earthy background makes the rust and teal spines pop like theyve been lit. But Ive run it on natural linen aswell and it looks fantastic, more vintage-library vibe. Cream canvas tote bags are another good one. Pair it with a simple bookish font somewhere on the bag and its a thing of its own. And dark charcoal fleece throws work really well too if you want something cozier.

Stitch it on a tea towel for a baker who reads. Use it on a zip pouch for a teacher. Pop it on a kids room pillow if theres a lil reader in the house. Add it to a Christmas stocking cuff, the 4.51-inch version fits that nicely without crowding the edge. Best on medium-weight woven fabrics with a firm underlay run first so the topping doesnt sink into the weave.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Book lover Christmas gift tote bagA customer ordered the 6-inch size on a craft-show tote as a gift for her book club, it stitched clean with no pull on the handles.
  • Library or classroom teacher apronTeachers love this one on aprons or canvas bags; the bookish theme does alot of the talking without any extra text needed.
  • Holiday throw pillow for a reading nookOn a cream linen pillow it looks like something from a very cosy December interior design shoot, especially with the rust spine catching the light.
  • Christmas stocking cuff accent patchThe 4.51-inch size slides perfectly onto a stocking cuff without crowding the seam, leave at least half an inch clearance on each side.
  • Kids room wall hoop for a young readerHooped into a 6-inch ring frame and hung on a wall it works as a little standalone art piece, no finishing needed beyond a bit of ribbon.
  • Literary-themed gift wrap tag or card holder pouchSmall zip pouches in forest green canvas make a great match, the chocolate and teal spines carry over the earthy palette without clashing.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
